University-sponsored student visa — no PR

A 1-yr visa tied to enrolment, renewable; the UAE has no PR status

Studying in the UAE is expensive and leads nowhere further. The visa is sponsored by the accredited university or college itself (or by a resident parent: sons up to 25, daughters until marriage with no age limit), issued for one year and renewed on proof that studies continue. Outstanding students are separately eligible for a Golden Visa. The sponsor need not be a university: the requirement is a KHDA, CAA or Ministry of Education licence, and a language institute holding one sponsors student visas too, so a language year does exist on this route. A year-long English programme costs up to AED 30,000. The school certificate goes through recognition: the Ministry of Education equivalences school qualifications via a Certificate of Equivalency, to be filed online at least two months before classes begin; applicants to foundation programmes are exempt from the procedure. Tuition is not regulated by the state at all — each university sets its own: AED 30,000–120,000 a year, with the American University of Sharjah at AED 110,876 for 2026/27. Living costs are AED 3,000–6,000 a month, and Sharjah and Al Ain are markedly cheaper than Dubai and Abu Dhabi. On the endgame, plainly: **the UAE has no PR status**, and studying brings you no closer to one — it leads to nothing beyond a renewable residence visa. Naturalisation formally appeared in 2021, but it is by nomination of the authorities and as a general rule requires 30 years of residence and Arabic — it cannot be counted on. A Golden Visa after a strong degree or employment is realistic, though, and you will not have to give up your Russian passport.
