Enrolment + a university guarantee letter; work is prohibited
The E30 study visa: the university itself issues the guarantee letter, and you need a passport valid six months plus proof of $2,000 for living costs — a trivial bar next to Australia or Germany. But there is one hard condition found nowhere else in the registry's study vertical: **a student visa holder is entirely prohibited from working** — no employment, no selling goods or services, no remuneration of any kind from Indonesian individuals or companies. Part-time work as a way to stretch the budget is ruled out. Study is on English-taught international programmes: UGM charges IDR 27.5M per semester plus a one-off institutional development fee of IDR 60M paid in the first year in two instalments — so year one comes to about IDR 115M (≈$6,400) and later years are half that; ITB charges IDR 30M per semester, UI from 16.6 to 64.5M. Worth knowing separately is Darmasiswa: a government scholarship for a year of language, arts and culture, open to citizens of every country with which Indonesia has diplomatic relations; it pays IDR 4.7M a month for living costs plus settlement and book allowances, with applications from 15 May to 15 June. The school certificate goes through an equivalency procedure (penyetaraan ijazah) at the ministry, and Indonesian schooling is twelve years — do not expect direct entry on a Russian certificate. A study KITAS does not count toward PR: a KITAP is granted after 3–4 years of continuous WORK KITAS with a single sponsor, so from the start of studies PR takes 8+ years, and citizenship additionally requires renouncing the Russian passport. And a practical detail that breaks the application: Russian-issued cards do not work on the Indonesian visa portal — a foreign card or a licensed agent is required.
