EAEU work with no permit; from 29.06.2026 the PR needs the KAZTEST and funds on account
Kazakhstan admits Russians visa-free for 90 days per 180. As an EAEU citizen you work on an employment contract without a work permit — the host party registers you; for a stay >90 days you obtain a temporary residence permit. Citizenship — after ~5 years of continuous residence on the permit. ⚠️ From 29 Jun 2026 the permanent residence permit itself is far harder to obtain: the KAZTEST Kazakh language exam at 70% per section, at least 1,320 MCI on account (KZT 5,709,000 in 2026, re-checked annually for five years) and at least one year of lawful residence in one of seven permitted regions — Almaty and Astana are closed for filing. A pilot until 31 Dec 2026: the EAEU temporary permit stays simple, the next step does not. ⚠️ Kazakhstan does not recognise dual citizenship — you'll have to give up your RF passport.

For Russian citizens this is one of the simplest study routes in the registry: visa-free entry (often on an internal passport), Russian-taught programs, and a study TRP filed with a university petition in 1 working day with no state fee; EAEU citizens are exempt from the TRP health-insurance copy. ⚠️ Permanent residence is a separate procedure; the tightening from 29 Jun 2026 (KAZTEST, filing regions, solvency threshold) affects long-term settlement, not the first study TRP. Citizenship requires renouncing the previous citizenship.
